Dining Room

My Dining Room is irregular shaped and is not a room by itself. 2 walls are partially open to the living room and kitchen. The 3rd wall has a non-centered window to the front yard and the 4th wall has non-centered French doors leading to the Home Office. On top of that, one corner between 2nd and 3rd wall is cut. The 2nd wall has a long rectangular opening to the entrance. The ceilings are sloped. The chandelier is centered in the middle of the room, meaning if someone were to place their dining table right underneath it, there wouldn't be enough space to walk (normally) into the adjoining Home Office.

Here are photos of my current dining room "situation":

Plan of Action:

1. Add Sisal Rug
2. Black/White Gingham curtains (overlaying the current curtains, which are energy efficient).
3. Add country type shelf for soup pots to the left of French doors.

4. Add custom made wooden cast iron display rack in odd corner to the left of the window.
5. Install new chandelier and center it.
6. 6 Ladder back chairs with cushions
7. Paint French doors white.
8. Bigger table top tray for dinner essentials.

Jan 18, 2018 Updates:

I purchased a Sisal Rug at Home Depot which turned out to be way too big. It ended up in the living room, which needed a rug as well. I'm now shopping for a 6x9 oval rug for under $140.

I ordered 2 black/white buffalo check curtain panels, which I plan on layering on top of my current curtains as they are black out curtains.

I re-finished my old country shelf, so now the soup bowls are "back home".

While it's not a new chandelier, it is now centered. My husband had the crazy idea to put the table on the diagonal which magically centered the current chandelier over the table. We added the leaf and I love the larger table.

Last but not least, I purchased a larger tray for the table. $7 at Walmart, can't beat that.

Feb 9, 2018 Updates:
The Buffalo Check Curtains are up and my husband installed the new chandelier last night!

I'm in love with the chandelier. I can't wait to start playing with decorations for it. Next on the list are 6 ladder back chairs and an oval braided rug.

Little Country Shelf that could

I found this cute shelf years ago during the clean-out of a foreclosure home. It would have been thrown in the trash had I not taken it home...
